We saw Incognito live here in Malaga last year. We knew they were good live but jeez!!
Bluey, the leader had everyone in tears at one point. He broke down (and cried) as he was talking about people looking after each other, how we should be spreading love in these abysmal times - very moving, the other band members rushed to comfort him. 🥹
Sharing the humanity of that moment and music’s universal language, its healing power - we all felt it. I was totally surprised by the volumes of love in the room.
We just got back from seeing Go Go Penguin in Madrid. Cracking gig - they had to put on a second show due to demand. We were at the 2nd one (started at 10.15) what a 3 piece! - brilliant musicians with amazing chemistry. Their music is so powerful live. They must have good stamina too doing 2 of those in one evening! Crowd loved ‘em.
What a line up of gigs. I do like English Teacher - even the stuff I'm less keen on I'm glad of, as we need a bit more of whatever it is they are up to! I've never been able to get into Peter Hammil, but have friends who worship at his altar, and I feel like I ought to give it one last try. Point me in the right direction please! Thanks Mark, and a happy new year to you! Yes, Peter Hammill tends to provoke either utter devotion or irredeemable alienation with nothing in between. His best songs are spread across so many albums it’s difficult to make a recommendation. However, of the few compilations he’s released, this is probably the best. Good luck!
I shall dive in, once this Soft Machine album has finished - yes another ‘holding the nose’ listen that I’m actually making some headway with so yknow, there’s hope
